Selections for the 2008 Season of productions for Chelan Valley Players has begun. The Board is currently considering 3 plays for Winter/Spring, 2 musical revues for Summer and 5 musicals for Autumn. The final choices will depend on community input and interest from Directors and Producers. The next step in the process is to solicit proposals from Directors and Producers who wish to be considered for one of these selections. Proposals should be submitted using the forms provided Here. Questions should be directed to Mark Tesch, President, at 670-6074 or Judy Johnston, Committee Chair, at 689-2348. The Board also invites public comment which may be directed to any Board member.
The plays and musicals under consideration cover a vast spectrum of subject matter. Interested people may wish to visit the Publisher’s websites to read a synopsis. Possibilities for the Winter/Spring time slot include comedies and a drama A Shot In The Dark by Marcel Achard, www.samuelfrench.com, is a hysterical farce with a delightful twist. The Miracle Worker by William Gibson, Pub: Samuel French, is the story of the young Helen Keller. Crimes of the Heart by Beth Henley, Dramatists Play Service www.dramatists.com, is a comedy/drama about three sisters in Mississippi. Under consideration for Summer are Forever Plaid by Stuart Ross, www.mtishows.com, a 1960’s farcical revue about a male quartet from the pop era, and Beguiled Again, the Song of Rodgers and Hart, www.rnh.com, a cavalcade of some of the most memorable Broadway music of the 1930s-40s. Musicals on the list for the Fall show include Oklahoma!, www.rnh.com, Camelot, www.tamswitmark.com, Guys and Dolls, www.mtishows.com, Into the Woods, MTI, and The Music Man, MTI.
“We are hoping to have some new Directors and Producers who are excited about participating in the production of one of these shows,” states Committee Chair Judy Johnston. “It is always difficult to narrow the field of choices so at this point, input from the community and theatre artists is needed.” Directors should submit proposals and Producers a letter of interest (see forms Here) no later than August 31st to be considered.
